Reality Check: You don't have to be a portion control freak to lose weight
The problem with announcing to your pals or the blogosphere that you are planning to lose weight is that you get a lot of stuff about how women shouldn't strive to be a size zero and all that gumpf. But when you say you want to lose weight mainly for health not vanity no one wants to hear it. So I just kept it buttoned and lost the weight. The fact is that I was overweight and now since I have lost fifteen pounds I feel a lot better and I am certainly nowhere near fitting into Posh's jeans. But the upside of doing it is truly amazing!! I have a lot of energy. Let's face it we are not meant to be lugging around fat. Sure I feel better because I can wear smaller sizes but the benefit is mainly, my complexion is much better and I just feel so much healthier. For me it was a case of getting out of the cycle of emotional eating. Yes I would feel better after quaffing a large mochachino with whipped cream but then an hour later I'd feel bad again, so what was the point? In the end I did it via diet plan Diet to Go and hope they will pick me to be their spokesperson!!
So I applaud celebrities who are slimming down in public - I mean can you think of anything more humilitating? I think most of them are doing it for their health and none of them seem to have gone too far. These are two ladies I am applauding:
Good for you Nigella! I'm sure she feels so much better now she has gone from a size 18 to a 12. According to reports, she lost the weight on the Clean and Lean plan.
Dawn French also recently shed four stone simply by "eating less and walking more." Dawn French also once said: “There are two types of women: the ones who like chocolate and complete bitches.” And I certainly hear you on this Dawn. But I have learnt that you don't have to have a huge bar of chocolate every day ... just on special occasions!
And if you can't afford pricey diet foods why not just join in with the twitter diet. Yes by following @laughitoff on twitter you join a supportive gang of dieting twitterers who will help you on your merry way!

Dawn French looks completely amazing...what a difference although she is a gorgeous looking woman anyway!
Wow - 15 pounds, well done indeed. I have just started Weight Watchers online. I only want to lose about 6 pounds (anything else and I can't maintain it, so why fool myself) and it's really easy as long as I don't "guesstimate". Now, all I do is type in the brand of whatever I've eaten and the point value pops up. I've lost a huge two pounds so far, but my stomach is flat (ish) again.
Losing weight is never easy and I am so glad to see REAL women shown as role models instead of the unrealstic twigs like Kate Moss... Kudos to a great post
I have been doing well overall with making healthier eating choices. I'm not perfect though and allow myself some cheat days. But, on other days, it certainly helps to remind myself that feeling good is waaaayyyyy better than another serving or eating more.
I just discovered you and am in love. Thank you for the shout out and for writing such a witty blog! xoxo
15 pounds is great, I need to lose double that I think, although I'll take any lose at the moment.
Very Bored in Catalunya....cut yourself some slack you've just had a baby! But to get yourself going you could get one of those jogging stollers are they popular in your neck of the woods??
Expat Mum... yeah that online thingie where you type summat in and it gives you the calories sounds great. Because all that measuring of portion sizes just does my head in! Size of a walnut...how big is a walnut etc etc?!
I have finally lost some weight also. I was 236 and I'm down to 203. Giving up Vodka helped a lot. lol. Congrats on the weight loss.
I'm Not Dead....way to go on the weight loss!!!! Kudos for giving up the vodka too not sure I'm that strong willed
Nice one Emma, glad you're feeling good.
I completely relate to this post. I wish I could bloody laugh it off but sadly, for me it is about eating healthy food and exercising. The utter bore of it all! Congrats on your weight loss. Very impressive and somewhat stealth of you x
I'm never one to specifically go for "skinny" types. Nigella was always sexy, but she does look hotter with that extra weight off, let's stop pretending otherwise.
Meanwhile all we really need to be is healthy, that's what matters most and when you are healthy you just tend to radiate sexiness a bit more i think.
Well done on your loss - get to where you need to be, rather than where anyone thinks you ought to be, or where you kid yourself into thinking you are happy at. If that makes sense?
